What We Do

The Bob and Jeanne Coughlin Foundation supports visionary people, projects and organizations focused on enduring approaches to such things as youth development, environmental causes and the disabled community. Acting as a catalyst, we work to come alongside efforts, with strong intention on making additional connections and engaging others for even greater impact.

We like bold ideas surrounded by planning and communication. With business roots in the fast-paced software and services business, our team has a growth mindset, is willing to experiment, and doubles down on philanthropies that show tangible positive results. We also appreciate the pioneering spirit, taking into consideration “the who'' that is leading the mission.

About Bob & Jeanne Coughlin

Bob and Jeanne Coughlin met in college. After a successful start in account management and sales, Bob founded Paycor, the human capital management company. Jeanne worked at the company early days, then together they had four children. Giving back has always been a core value for the Coughlins. Jeanne supported their kids’ schools. Bob ran marathons in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training Program. Doing so, led Bob to concept a marathon in their hometown and with the help of others, the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon was established.

Today the Foundation furthers the impact the duo and the team they’ve formed can have. With hallmark approaches to health, wellbeing and loyalty to those who help them help others, the work of the Foundation is only getting started.

Our Priorities

Youth Development

We form partnerships that foster innovative educational and enrichment programs. We build into the youth of tomorrow through new adventures and learning opportunities. The more hands on, the better.

Individuals with Disabilities

Our strategy includes concern for those who are less independent, and often cannot care for themselves. Born out of values and life experiences, our goal is to genuinely help those who need a helping hand.

Communities within Reach

Relationships will always matter. Our strategy is to be in service to the communities with which we personally have contact, whether it be in our hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, our network of business colleagues, or a group of interested parties that share interest in life in the Bahamas. Helping those closest to us demonstrates that what’s important to them, is important to us.

Ecological Sustainability

We are committed to conservation. That means being responsible and fostering awareness to do more with less. Having strong ties to The Bahamas, we are especially concerned with protecting those waters and surrounding islands’ ecosystems. Throughout many geographies, we work to bring people together for continuous learning around all forms of nature.

Flying Pig Marathon - The Bob and Jeanne Coughlin Foundation

The first Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon was held in May 1999, initiated by Bob Coughlin and interested friends to showcase the landscape and people of Cincinnati, and also to raise money for charity and function as a non-profit. It was important to founders to create a course and race-day experience that was in town, traversing past arts, sporting and other historical city landmarks. 2024 will mark its 25th running. As the event now involves upwards of 20,000 participants and volunteers race weekend, Coughlin and his family wanted to build on the legacy and established The Flying Pig Scholars program with Skyline Chili and other contributors.

Today, Bob serves on the Board of the Marathon and remains a force in its future, in service to the terrific management team of PigWorks that operates the series of road races. There are many ways to join in and get involved whether as sponsor, participant, volunteer, or spectator.

Cincinnati Zoo - The Bob and Jeanne Coughlin Foundation

The Cincinnati Zoo is internationally known for its success in the protection and propagation of endangered animals and plants and engages in research and conservation projects worldwide. With shared interest in conservationism, The Bob and Jeanne Coughlin Foundation has been a supporter of the Zoo for years. We have partnered on creating a new exhibit and home for the kangaroos and hosting events that expose people to Zoo offerings in new ways, including farm-to-table dinners beside animal exhibits.

Now we’re looking to extend our partnership on a global level through an exchange program in the Bahamas for the purpose of education and interaction with varied terrains. A part of this involves a multi-purpose ecotourism location being developed. More on that can be found here.
